New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. 21 February 1997
Our report continues - with information not published in 'Chip Shop'.
PMA has booth after booth of small companies from all over the world, many
of which market small accessories. One company, from Korea, had
and interesting supplementary lens attachments for consumer-level digital
cameras, such as the Fuji DS-7 which I used to capture all the images in
this report.
The adapter clips over the top of the camera, positioning the supplementary
lens in front of the camera's existing (fixed focal length) lens.
Both wideangle and telephoto attachments will be available.

Interesting as new cameras are, they do not represent all the new products
at PMA. There was a wide variety of other digital imaging products, including
scanners and printers.
This jumbo printer from 3M, the Scotchprint 2000, prints 54 inches wide
at the phenomenal speed of ten feet per inch. Durst also had a printer which
outputs any length.
Ilford were showing the Cymbolic Sciences laser printer which makes 50
x 50 inch prints. CibaChromes (IlfoChromes?) on display showed no perceptible
digital texture. For further information eMail Peter Mayhew at Ilford.
With that, it's back to my apartment in Bienville Street, in the French
Quarter - via another dozen delicious oysters - and back to the UK tomorrow.
I'm making up this page for the web, on my Macintosh PowerBook, in the
lounge at Dulles Airport, Washington, waiting for my flight home. PMA goes
on for another two days. I really needed more time but hope that these highlights
have been of interest to you.
